Nevada Shipping Pvt Ltd was established in 1994 by Ibrahim Waheed and Mohamed Naseem. This company was founded to operate the newly purchased Bulk Cargo Vessel, MV Nalafiya Traders (GRT 3,500). This was the first vessel ever purchased by Nalahiya.
Nevada Shipping also operated MV Nevada Merchant (GRT 6,500) that was purchased in 1997. Both these vessels were used to ship construction material sold by Nalahiya Trading directly from suppliers thereby avoiding shipping agents, shippers, and other middle men. This allowed Nalahiya Trading to provide high-quality material to customers at lower prices than competitors. In 1998 Nevada Merchant was sold after Mohamed Naseem had an accident on the Ship that led to his untimely death.
Nalahiya Trading purchased MV Hiya Builder (GRT 9,984) in 2003 after the sale of Nalafiya Traders. This increased the operations of Nevada Shipping as Hiya Builder was the largest privately operated bulk carrier in the Maldives at that time. In 2014, after the sale of Hiya Builder, MV Nala Commander (GRT 12,500) was purchased. Nevada Shipping continues to operate this vessel to this day.
